Craft, Culture & Collaboration: Hangzen Helps Bring New Noosa Longboards Stores to Life

This past season, Hangzen’s own Luke Norman had the privilege of being part of something a little bit special — a hands-on collaboration with one of our long-term customers, Noosa Longboards, on the fitout of not just one, but two new store spaces right in the heart of Hastings Street, Noosa.

As locals will know, Noosa Longboards is more than just a surf shop — it’s an institution. Deeply woven into the beachside fabric of Noosa, the brand has been celebrating surf culture, art, and the laid-back lifestyle of the Sunshine Coast for decades. So when they announced the expansion into two new beautifully curated stores, we knew it would be more than just a regular fitout.

It would be a creative journey — and Luke was stoked to be along for the ride.

A Long-Term Relationship Built on Trust

Hangzen has been working with Michael and Ash from Noosa Longboards for years, handling picture hanging and art placement with precision and care. From memorabilia and iconic surf photography to one-of-a-kind artworks, the team at Hangzen has helped present their unique collection in a way that does justice to the stories behind each piece.

So when the call came to assist with their new fitouts — not just with picture hanging, but with a much more involved, creative role — Luke jumped in headfirst.

Two Stores. One Vision.

Located just steps apart on Hastings Street, the new Noosa Longboards spaces are a celebration of coastal culture, with each store offering a unique experience.

  • One focuses on surfboards, records, vintage memorabilia and collectables, blending nostalgia with modern style.
  • The other offers art, lifestyle gear, and beautiful homewares, all thoughtfully curated to evoke that timeless Noosa energy.

Both spaces feel more like galleries than retail shops — with the added bonus of great coffee and friendly faces behind the counter. It’s clear these aren’t just stores; they’re places to linger, connect, and be inspired.

A Chance to Get Creative

For Luke, this wasn’t just another job. It was a chance to tap into his creative side, and work with like-minded people who share his passion for craft, woodwork, and storytelling through design.

He got involved in the finishing touches — from wood detailing and custom installations, to helping create a layout that flows naturally and invites customers to explore. Collaborating closely with a small team of talented locals, Luke brought a unique blend of artistic vision and technical know-how, and relished every moment of it.

“This one was different,” Luke says. “There was more room for creativity. The whole crew had a real vibe — lots of respect, good laughs, and shared values. Everyone just wanted to create something beautiful that Noosa would be proud of.”

Now Open to the Public

After weeks of sawdust, sketches, late nights, and lots of coffee, both Noosa Longboards stores officially opened their doors this week — and they’re already drawing attention from locals and tourists alike.

Whether you’re picking up a vintage vinyl, admiring the surfboard collection, browsing local art, or just stopping in for a flat white and a chat — there’s something special about these new spaces. You can feel the care, craftsmanship, and connection behind every detail.

Supporting Local, Always

At Hangzen, we’re proud to support creative businesses like Noosa Longboards, and even prouder when we get to work shoulder to shoulder on projects that mean something to the community.

Big thanks to the crew at Noosa Longboards for trusting Hangzen again. We’re stoked with how it all came together — and even more excited for what’s to come.

Next time you’re on Hastings Street, pop in. You’ll see the difference when things are done with love.
